Biography
Dr. Whitman joined 性视界 in 2022 as an assistant professor in the Division of Education. Dr. Whitman has been in the field of education for more than 25 years. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and History at Tulane University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Kent State University. She taught middle and high school Spanish for ten years in Hudson, Ohio. Dr. Whitman completed a Doctorate in curriculum and instruction and Post Masters Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Kent State in University 2018. She started her career in higher education as a teacher educator at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
Dr. Whitman is currently the Middle Level Education and Secondary English Program chair. She is focused on helping preservice teachers become effective classroom teachers who care deeply about the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of their future students. Her research interests include best teaching practices for middle level learners and the self-study of teacher education. Dr. Whitman has mentored three 性视界 students through the process of educational research writing resulting in two academic publications.
